Where would I be without our amazing baby swing?! Although Logan never liked his swing as a baby we knew we would need one for Emmett. I knew I wouldn't be able to hold him during naps, etc. since he was not going to be the only child in the house. I originally registered for the MamaRoo Swing. Though I had never actually seen it in person, it was the latest thing so it had to be a good deal right?! Well when it came time to actually purchase our swing, thanks Mimi and Papa, I had this gut feeling that the MamaRoo wasn't the best choice. So after looking and looking I decided to go somewhat old school and purchase the InGenuity by Bright Stars Cradle & Swing (swing). While not as "boyish" as I typically go when picking items for my boys, it had all the things I thought we would want in a swing and we purchased it.
Of course I had to set it up as soon as it arrived...why wait for Brennan just because he's the man of the house. I love to put things together (I know you're all shocked) and after putting said swing together, with Logan's help of course, I rearranged my entire living room to fit the swing into our lives.
Holy moly thank heaven for this swing!! We've been putting Emmett in it since we brought him home from the hospital and it is absolutely the best purchase I made in preparation for his arrival. I never thought naptime could occur without holding my precious angel in my arms but man the swing takes the cake. Does this not look like a happy baby?!
Now I will admit that sometimes the transition from my arms to the swing doesn't always go as planned...but most of the time it can be accomplished with little disturbance and a successful naps ensues. Funny how I was appreciating my swing the other morning just as the Today Show was showing off some of the "must have" baby items and the MamaRoo was on display. After seeing it in action I am so glad I made the choice I made because nothing can compare to the way this thing moves!! And I rarely have to change the batteries, which in parenthood is a wonderful thing as you go through more batteries then you know what to do with.
Our swing works so successfully that I recently purchased a portable swing to use in our bedroom and on trips. I know it seems silly to have two of something in one small home, but if you have children you understand the need for convenience and when your child likes something, well, you go the extra mile to make sure they can have it when needed. Enter our portable swing. I have used this on many occasion to ensure I get a shower on those mornings when it seems near impossible and I cannot wait to use this swing during our trip to NC coming up. What will I do when Emmett reaches the weight limit and these swings can no longer be used?! I don't even want to think about it...I mean, I have at least 6-7 more months before that occurs...hopefully.
Needless to say I am ever indebted to our swing and try to cherish the moments when Logan is at school and Emmett is tucked safely into his warm and cozy swing.
